CONSULTANCY SERVICE FOR INSPECTION, IDENTIFICATION OF DEFECTS AND REPAIR WORKS OF SIPHON FROM 3+950 km TO 4+330 km OF WALAWA RB MAIN CANAL ACROSS RAKWANA GANGA

Funding Source and Objective:
The International Development Association (IDA), a member of the World Bank Group, is funding for the implementation of the Integrated Watershed and Water Resources Management Project (IWWRMP) which mainly focuses on restoration and protection of selected watersheds and rehabilitation or modernization of tanks and downstream improvement in view of minimizing of the inefficiencies in selected irrigation systems belongs to the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka, Department of Irrigation, Northern Provincial Council and Eastern Provincial Council.
As a part of this project , Walawa Right Bank Main Canal has been selected for improvements. The intension of this project is to rehabilitate Siphon of Walwa Right Bank Main Canal across Rakwana Ganga.

Contract Value (including Taxes) : LKR 17,120,165.00
Contract Period : November 2022 to August 2023

Contract Objective:
The main objective of the assignment is to undertake scientific investigations/inspections inside the siphon and identify the necessary rehabilitation measures and use the collected information to prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings and specifications, BOQ and engineers estimate for enable the project to prepare tender documents.
Final Output:
The final outputs of this project are as follows,

  • Preparation of Detailed Engineering Designs and Drawings
  • Preparation of Technical Specifications, Engineer’s Estimate and BOQ
  • Preparation of Environmental and Social Management Plan
  • Preparation of As-built drawings
  • Checking discharge adequacy
